From modest Jutlandian talent to international player
Jens Terp-Nielsen. Sækko A/S. So it can hardly sound more down-to-earth and honorable, can it? Jens was the man who, in the early 50s, let his sales potential flourish and helped the hard-working farmers with thorough cleaning and repair of jute sacks.
With blankets on sacks, the business quickly came to also include the production of tarpaulins. In any case, he did not lack visions, and in the 60s he could boast of having as many as 12 quality products on the shelves, including the naughty boy, Saekko Boy - a smart rolling waste and collection rack.
The oldest member of the family, Preben Terp-Nielsen continued to brew the range. As a newly graduated candidate in economics, he arrived in the 1970s with a suitcase full of courage and ideas for a more complete range, at the time of writing consisting of 25,000 products.
From baby steps to large arm movements
Of course ABENAS DNA and the seeds had been sown with the farmers, but that did not stop the enterprising family from watering new pastures. In 1978, the first babies could waddle off in Bambo - a popular diaper, of which 3 million are produced daily, which paved the way for larger production facilities, which in the 1980s were inaugurated in Egelund - very fittingly with the youngest "pig" Arne Terp-Nielsen as director. Jens could safely hand over the helm and at the same time draw on his experience in his role as mayor of Aabenraa.
Several warehouse buildings sprung up between the 1980s and the 1990s and formed a beautiful and high-tech setting for the brand new incontinence products. The sons continued to look both beyond the tip of their own noses and national borders, and were now ready to acquire Swedish Finess and French Frantex. The internationalization was unmistakable and the company was renamed Abena A/S in 2003.
Avoid dirty floors and occupational injuries
You probably know the blue or white disposable plastic pads from your trip to the swimming pool, the floors of which are stepped on by many people every day. They are just as important to have free and quick access to within the health sector and in connection with food production and packaging.
On bels.dk, practical and solid dispensers for storing shoe covers are sold, so that hygiene remains top notch. If you have daily contact with food at, for example, a slaughterhouse or catering company, we can help you with aprons that comply with current legislation.
You will also find Abena's safe and comfortable cut-resistant gloves in our range, so you always have a good grip on things and can protect one of your most important work tools; namely your hands.
