Light sources for every purpose
The right light source can transform a room’s atmosphere and create optimal conditions for work—whether in the kitchen, above the desk, or in the workshop. That’s why your choice of lighting is never trivial. You should always select a light source that supports the function of the space. For example, LED spotlights are ideal for kitchens and bathrooms, as they offer clear and focused lighting while consuming minimal electricity. This helps you save on energy costs and reduces the hassle of frequently replacing bulbs—especially important in rooms where we spend a lot of time.
In relaxing spaces like the living room or bedroom, warm and soft lighting is a better fit. Combining diffused lighting from ceiling or floor lamps with concentrated lighting from smaller fixtures can enhance depth, eliminate dark corners, and highlight interior design elements.

Which light source to choose? – understanding energy labels
A+, W, lm, K, Ra, h—what do all these markings on the packaging mean? It can be confusing at first, but once you understand which labels to look out for, choosing the right light source becomes straightforward.
For years, Europe has used an energy labeling system to make it easier for consumers to assess the energy efficiency of household appliances and lighting. Choosing an energy-efficient bulb is not only environmentally friendly but also saves you money in the long run. The most efficient light sources are labeled A or A+, with LED bulbs being the top choice thanks to their low energy use and long lifespan—up to 10–15 years. In contrast, halogen bulbs often need replacement every two years.
Other types, like compact fluorescent lamps and fluorescent tubes, also achieve high energy ratings (A to B). Energy class is based solely on efficiency, measured in lumens per watt. When shopping for bulbs, look out for the following labels:
lm (lumens): Indicates brightness. Higher lumens mean more light.
K (Kelvin): Measures color temperature. The higher the number, the cooler the light. 2,700–3,000K is warm and suitable for cozy areas, while 3,500–4,000K resembles daylight—ideal for workspaces.
Ra (CRI): Color Rendering Index, rated from 0–100. Indoor lighting should have a CRI of at least 80. Natural daylight has a CRI of 100.
h (hours): Expected lifespan. On average, a bulb used 3 hours daily lasts 1,000 hours per year.
Energy-saving bulbs for homes or workplaces caring for the environment
Eco-friendly lighting is the future and already a staple in many Danish homes. It’s a practical way to help the climate through reduced energy use, cleaner materials, and lower production costs. There are many reasons to switch to energy-saving bulbs—whether at home or in the workplace.
They offer the best of both worlds: the energy efficiency of fluorescent tubes with the ease and comfort of traditional incandescent bulbs. This makes them perfect for both ambient and task lighting. They are especially useful in commercial environments such as hotels, restaurants, and retail spaces where lighting is used extensively.
Energy-saving bulbs come in warm white, natural, or daylight hues and are available in stick or spiral shapes to fit standard fixtures. With a lifespan of 6,000–15,000 hours—6 to 15 times longer than traditional bulbs—you save money, reduce hassle, and create a healthier indoor climate.
