Safe installation of recessed spotlights and lamps

You are allowed to install most ready-made kits for recessed spotlights and lamps in existing installations, but it is still electrical work where it is important that the work is done safely and correctly. If you need to install hidden LED spots in the ceiling, you must have a licensed electrician on the job. You should always have a licensed electrician involved if new electrical outlets are needed. You are allowed to mount lamps on existing installations and take down old lamps. However, do not put up halogen lamps if the transformer, wires and lamp are purchased separately. Remember that you must not shorten or lengthen wires to either LED spots or to any converter - you must not change the finished set for recessed spots. If you are in doubt about how to install lamps or spots, we always recommend that you consult with a professional - and remember to turn off the electricity when performing electrical installations.

Lamps or spots - what should I choose?

When choosing between lamps and spots, first consider the type of light you need and then how big the room is. The lighting must meet your requirements and fit into the room where it is used.

Basically, we usually talk about two types of light to illuminate indoor rooms; diffused light and concentrated lighting.

The diffuse light is the general light that illuminates most of the room - but if you only use diffused light, the room can get a slightly flat and dull touch. In addition, it can leave some corners in shade and you may lack bright work light - such as reading light, for working in the kitchen and focused light on individual décor details such as your most beautiful painting, along the bookcase and more. Here it can often be an advantage with neutral to warm light.

The concentrated light is just your work light, the light that highlights the beautiful details and illuminates the dark nooks. Here, the neutral light is good, so colors appear clear and correct. <p style=""margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt"">

Many people prefer wall or ceiling lamps and larger floor lamps to achieve diffuse, general lighting, while you can use Recessed spotlights and smaller lamps where you need concentrated light. For small or narrow areas such as hallways, cupboards and toilet/shower, built-in spots can also be used for general light. The built-in spots typically take up less space than a lamp. You can place spots so that the entire room is illuminated and there is focus on the areas where you need extra light - e.g. in front of the mirror in the bathroom or along the shelves in the closet. <p style=""margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt"">

LED spots fit discreetly almost anywhere and provide good light while using very little electricity. The bulbs themselves also last for many, many hours. With LED you have many choices in lighting type - whether it should be warm, neutral or cold light, dimmable, concentrated or more scattered light. The modern LED bulbs have evolved a lot since the first came on the market, and provide many beautiful and exciting lighting options. <p style=""margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt"">

Lamps usually function both as a source of light, but also as a decorative element in the room itself - both when turned on and off. Therefore, the choice of lamp is also very much about aesthetic and your preferred style. We have a large selection, so you can find one that suits your taste.
