Asch, Schärf, Dr. Steffen, Röttchen and Umlauft are leading the battle at the global IT company. And we think that both they and the 10,000 employees deserve a certain amount of space, as they make sure to keep your business systems running every day.

Markus Asch has not come to sleep for either his board position or his place in the CEO chair – he is a technical engineer at the University of Applied Science. He has held senior positions at cleaning equipment manufacturer, Alfred Kärcher SE & CO. KG and has a steely eye on B2B customers' needs for modular solution platforms, all while developing new market potentials.

At Asch's side is CEO Uwe Schärf, who has a degree in electrical engineering and has extensive experience in product management and marketing in the IT industry. Among other things, he has been in charge of product management of automation systems at ABB and after 2 years of building the Industry unit in 2019, he stepped into his current post.

And who do they reach out to when it comes to research and quality assurance? Well, none other than Dr. Thomas Steffen, who has a background in mechanical engineering and business administration. He, too, has taken on several posts and set up a new and more efficient Rittal service body.

Production, yes – Carsten Röttchen expertly takes care of it through his electronics and industrial engineering studies as well as a number of prominent positions at the car manufacturer Opel. No production without sales, which Dr. René Umlauft takes care of lovingly and safely in Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East through his 20 years of experience from Siemens.

Rittal's IT systems took the world by storm

Only a few years after its foundation, Rittal got its first Dutch representative, and later a subsidiary was established in Sweden before Friedhelm Loh takes over as head of the IT company.

Despite great electronic advances, Rittal's German roots are still safeguarded, as the headquarters were moved in 1977 to the historic medieval town of Herborn. In the 1980s, Rittal is ready to embark on power distribution and backup, an area that today houses both rail systems, VX25 Ri4Power as well as ISV distribution boards and TS 8.

TS 8 has become the platform from which Rittal's consultancy, products and services originate. Customer satisfaction is unmistakable with more than 7.7 million systems sold – already at the 50th anniversary in 2011. Also in climate technology based on air, liquid or intended outdoor cooling needs, things are gaining momentum and production facilities are being established in the USA and England.

The slogan "faster – better – everywhere" commits – which is why, since the introduction of RimatriX5 in 2004, Rittal's electronics expert staff has worked intensively to create solutions for the ever-increasing demands for networks and data centers in small and large companies around the world. With RiMatrix, all talk of autonomy, artificial intelligence and digital twins has been translated into lightning-fast racks and an extremely user-friendly IT platform.

IT operations in a hectic world

Many thousands of air travelers have been affected by strikes and uncertainty about summer travel in 2022. However, we dare to bet that there will be no unnecessary waiting time at Frankfurt Airport, which, thanks to Rittal's infrastructure, provides reliable information about the more than 1,400 departures and arrivals, and that suitcases and luggage arrive at the right owner despite the trip on the kilometre-long conveyor belts.

But Rittal is more than a true globetrotter. At Microsoft, their IT products also show their strengths. The Redmond Enterprise Engineering data center makes it possible to test software on more than 700 servers so that large companies don't suffer from a new system's potential teething problems.

Also in Denmark, Rittal saves otherwise skilled automation people from headaches over downtimes and errors in production. Thanks to the software Eplan and the automation system Perforex, FH Automation in Horsens has released 1,200 working hours from boring and demanding hole drilling and cutting tasks to instead focus on further developing their PLC control, engine repairs and robotics.
