Choose the right construction site lighting for your needs
"The lighting at outdoor workplaces must ensure that work and traffic can take place safely" – this is stated in the Danish Working Environment Authority's guidance. It is a balancing act to be able to see properly and handle tasks and tools sensibly, and not be dazzled by a strong glow from the lamps. We must not forget the neighbours of the building either – they should be able to sleep at night.
We humans have an eminent sense of sight. However, our ability to navigate is challenged by dim lighting in the early morning or late afternoon – especially during the dark winter months. Some thrive, even if there is clutter around them, on construction sites it is no good having disturbing elements such as cables and power tools lying around you can trip over. Construction waste should also not float.

The work lighting allows you to perform final finishes such as painting and wallpapering or hardcore cutting, digging and drilling tasks safely. Make sure you can turn on lights already at the entrance and that you do not turn off the nose of the colleague who is engaged in a potentially dangerous piece of craftsmanship. Consider a key switch.
For rough and demanding work, you should choose lamps of at least 50 to 100 lx in illumination, i.e. how much light per m2 or surface. If the workplace is covered, you need to go up to 200 and for various assembly and precision work, do not go below 300 – 500 lux. The lux value will decrease after many years of use.
We can also help with emergency lighting and escape routes. In short, you will find work lamps that reflect the light correctly and do not overheat even if they are left on for many, many hours – provided you place them on fireproof surfaces and keep them free of flammable materials and dirt. Block off rooms that are still and unlit for periods of time.
LED floodlights or rechargeable work lights?
High demands are placed on construction site lighting - items and areas must be effectively lit up for painters, carpenters, electricians and concrete workers. The lamps must be connected without risk of shock, the supply cord must be sufficiently relieved and they must be resistant to weather, wind and rough handling.
This applies whether you want to connect to an outlet, choose a version on battery or, for example, a Schneider solar lamp. The latter can even charge your smartphone. LED is preferable versus light bulb if you want to save energy. They do not get hot in the same way. Halogen reproduces color well. Think about whether the floodlight and lamp should be mobile or hung up to avoid impact shadows.
