Kitchen ventilation is central to the indoor climate

A good culinary dish both tastes and smells good if you ask us, but smells and frying should not hang in the curtains just as the steam from the potatoes should not settle in the walls and ceilings. Lids on the pots help, of course, but most important for the indoor climate in small and large kitchens is a good cooker hood.

Find your new quality cooker hood at our shop - we carry cooker hoods in different price ranges and design from Exhausto, Thermex and Systemair for wall, ceiling and cabinet mounting. You will also find accessories such as grease filters, robes and front panels in our range.

Efficient extraction and clean air in your kitchen

Looking for a new Thermex cooker hood? At bels.dk, you're in safe hands. Since 2017, we’ve proudly offered high-quality cooker hoods from this renowned Danish ventilation specialist. While Siemens and Bosch remain popular choices – and yes, we supply parts and accessories for them too – Thermex, Exhausto, and Systemair now lead the way when it comes to modern recirculation systems.

These hoods effectively remove moisture and cooking fumes – even in well-insulated, airtight homes. The sleek, minimalist design makes grease removal easy, and installing a carbon filter hood or motorless cooker hood is a hassle-free task. As Thermex puts it: "So you can do it elegantly."

Did you know that Thermex was the first to offer ceiling-integrated cooker hoods – combining aesthetics, performance, and space-saving innovation in one solution?

Find the right cooker hood for your kitchen online

You can search endlessly for tests on the best or cheapest cooker hood, but the top-rated model on paper isn’t always the best fit for your kitchen. A hood should be quiet (ideally between 40–60 dB), match the style of your kitchen, and – most importantly – effectively remove odours, grease, and steam. This applies whether the hood is compact, suspended by wires, integrated into the worktop (like the Typhoon Compact), or built into a cabinet.

There are generally two types of cooker hoods: those with internal or external motors. Internal-motor hoods typically vent through the wall or roof. In recirculation mode, air is cleaned through a filter and returned to the room. With an external motor – mounted on the ceiling, wall or roof – you benefit from higher extraction capacity and lower noise levels in the kitchen.

Practical installation tips: height and space

One key factor to consider is the distance between the hob and the hood. For electric hobs, the recommended clearance is 45–65 cm, depending on the ventilation type. For gas hobs, a minimum of 65 cm is required – or up to 120 cm for ceiling-mounted hoods. Always check model-specific guidelines.

Gone are the days when large extractor units dominated the space above your oven. Today’s options include compact models like Oxford, a budget-friendly round hood that still complements many Nordic-style kitchens. Telescopic hoods remain a great choice, offering a clean design and reliable performance – see models like Super Silent in white or Stripe in aluminium, ideal for mounting above or below a 60 cm cabinet.

Intelligent extraction for modern homes

Centralised extraction systems are becoming more popular as our homes become more digital and streamlined. Alternatively, remote-controlled wire-suspended hoods with grease filters and Plasmex technology offer effective purification – without the hassle of ductwork.

In the past, kitchens were smaller and more enclosed. Today’s open-plan kitchens often require wider hoods – in the 80–90 cm range – and matching ducting diameters of 120–150 mm for proper airflow.

Wide selection of recirculation and telescopic cooker hoods

Many homeowners prefer carbon filter hoods (also known as recirculation hoods) when ducting isn’t an option – especially during kitchen renovations. However, it’s important to note that ducted hoods are more efficient at capturing particles and are typically required by law in new constructions.

Telescopic hoods have been around for years, available with or without motors. The principle is simple: pull the hood out before cooking (ideally a few minutes in advance to create underpressure), then slide it back in when finished. For larger cooking zones in open kitchens, an external motor may be needed to handle the load – ideally a low-noise model that won’t disturb your guests in nearby living spaces.

Proper spacing between the hob and extractor is crucial. If space is tight, visibility is blocked, or the hood is poorly fixed, performance and comfort suffer. Angled hoods are a smart way to free up space around island hobs.

Smart features and easy maintenance

Vertical extraction combines perimeter suction around the cooking zone with a removable filter. Cleaning should be done monthly to maintain performance – but check whether the filter is washable. Energy rating, budget, and layout should all be considered before making a choice.

The Derby hood, with its light, curved glass and steel design, resembles the Wasco Curvex. Both support ducted or recirculation setups using an active filter. Filters are placed underneath for easy removal and cleaning. If your cooker hood doesn't need to make a visual statement, the Thermex Super Silent is a smart, affordable choice – a motorless model that fits in nearly any kitchen.

Ceiling-mounted, wall-mounted or built-in cooker hoods? Shop the full range

Don't just buy a cooker hood on sale in white, black, brass, or steel because it looks great. Focus instead on solid extraction performance and sizing that suits your hob. We offer models in various price ranges and styles. Our selection also includes accessories like filters and backdraft dampers, which reduce noise when the extractor isn't in use and prevent cold air from entering through the duct.

Some people opt for open kitchen shelves instead of overhead cabinets. For them, a ceiling-integrated hood can be ideal – if the structure and joists allow it. Alternatively, a false ceiling box can be built to house the hood, avoiding structural modifications. Just remember: the grease filter must be easy to access for regular cleaning. Some ceiling hoods can also be connected to your home’s central extraction system, offering built-in lighting and plenty of headroom.

If your kitchen includes upper cabinets, a built-in model is a space-saving solution that allows room for cookware and spice storage. Some brands, like Cube, even offer accessible control panels for wheelchair users. Cooking should be just as enjoyable for everyone – whether you're operating your hood via app, remote control, or manual switches.

Wall-mounted hoods, such as the popular Reading model, remain a favourite in Nordic homes where the hob is usually positioned against a wall. They’re easy to clean and offer excellent working conditions.

Match your cooker hood to your needs – and your space

Your cooker hood should be at least as wide – preferably 1.5 times wider – than your hob. If it’s too small, odours will linger. Too large, and it might dominate the kitchen design. To calculate the right extraction capacity, start by measuring the volume of your kitchen and considering how many burners you typically use at once.

Also factor in duct diameter, bends in the pipework, extraction route, and manufacturer recommendations. Use solid ducting rather than flexible hoses to avoid tight 90-degree bends. Insulate ducting to prevent condensation buildup inside the hood. If you're planning a rear wall outlet, you’ll need a complete wall ducting kit or a vertical backdraft damper to finish the job neatly.
